June Shop Update June 27 2022, 0 Comments
Its been a busy month since the last newsletter. Kids off for a week for half term and we had a lovely day in London doing some museums then dinner in Covent Garden. Then I visited Nicky at All About the Yarn for a pop up shop and had a great time. Knitting wise I have had my first pattern professionally tech edited - the Alp-aca Socks pattern written especially for Ashley's yarn - currently available in Alp-aca Sock Boxes, so that's really exciting, and I'm knitting the Bonnie Isle Hat from Shetland Wool Week. Do join us in our Facebook group if you want more about what I'm up to every week that's not strictly SQ related.
Some of you may have already seen this month's shop update preview - we had to get it up early as there was scheduled work on the power lines round SQHQ yesterday, so all the photography etc was done last week to make sure we weren't delayed if the work over ran. It does mean I'm totally confused by what day of the week it is tho! This month we have Colour Scrolls - read on if you don't know what these are, Enchant, Entwist and Flockly.
Read on for more information or head over the the website to see the preview. It all goes live at 8pm this evening.
Don't forget EU customers can now order from the website and if the order is under €150 the vat is paid at the checkout with no further charges when you receive your parcel. Do share this with your yarn-loving friends in the EU! Customers so far have reported parcels arriving quickly and with no extra worries which is great. You can add tracking to your parcel for extra peace of mind. |
Fingering Weight
Colour Scrolls
Colour Scrolls are blanks, or knitted sections of yarn, which are unravelled as you work with them. We rarely dye these as they are done one by one and do take time, but each one is totally individual. Half are double stranded so you get 2 identical 50gs of yarn, which means matching socks, gloves, sleeves or whatever you fancy; the others are single stranded so great for shawls, garments or if you prefer socks that are related rather then identical.
Flockly
Flockly is my favourite fingering weight yarn, its a blend of Bluefaced Leicester, Silk and Cashmere and has a lovely sheen while still being slightly woolly. Perfect for garments, accessories and shawls.
Enchant
Enchant is a dream combination of baby alpaca, silk and cashmere makes this a super-soft yarn with a slight halo yet beautiful sheen. Perfect for very special projects where softness is the most important factor. Treat someone special to a soft hat or scarf.
Entwist
A high twist sock yarn with no nylon which is perfect for anyone wanting to reduce their plastic consumption. (We also post out plastic free unless a very large order) This yarn doesn't just have to be socks tho, it will also work very well for garments, accessories and shawls.
Ashley's Alp-aca Yarns
These two colourways have been designed and dyed by my son Ashley to raise funds for a very special trip this summer to the Alps with Scouts for 2 weeks of activities and camping. There are two options - a DK sock box or a 4ply bundle and £5 from each will go into his Jamboree fund. I think he's done a lovely job with the colours.
Virtual Yorkshire Yarn Fest
Really please to be taking part in Virtual Yorkshire Yarn Fest again this month. Its Sunday 26th June and check social media for what time we will be on. This is the show colourway which will be available and is called Alexandrite. Make sure you follow them on Instagram to see all the vendors.
Thank-you for reading to the end of this newsletter, I hope there is something to whet your appetite,
