The Gift Edition

Thank you to everyone who visited RiverKnits last Sunday. It was a lovely day and the talk by Susan Crawford was really interesting. The work that goes into reverse engineering the designs in her books is amazing and I really want to go to Shetland for a holiday now! If you haven't seen her work do check it out at Susan Crawford Vintage.
As you can see above it was a very small stand so there isn't a whole lot of new yarn this month, but I did focus on some luxury DK bases which I haven't dyed for a while (A long while for the Flockly DK). These are great this time of year for quick, cozy projects either to beat the chill or as a gift. I have also restocked two of the sock kits which would also make great gifts.
There is a small amount of Crush and Selkino, as well some very bright pink Floof and hopefully this month I will get the minis up or at least some of them. I'm out for lunch today so this was written before I left so most of the yarn is probably already on line, you can always check back later and see if I've managed to add more. Also, if you are outside the UK don't forget our clocks have changed a few weeks back and we are now on GMT, not sure if that changes the time for you.
Enchant DK
This has been out of stock for a couple of months after I nearly ran out at Unravel... Autumn so if you have been waiting for more colourways there are now some more to choose from. This is the softest DK yarn we sell, with its blend of Alpaca, Silk and Cashmere making for strokable coziness!
You may have felt the 4ply version at a show if you have visited our stand. Its softness lends it to a project to be worn against the skin and I often recommend the Age of Brass and Steam kerchief as a lovely 1 skein knitting project for this yarn, or I have worked Knitty.com's Fetching mittens in DK before, you might even have enough for two pairs from 1 skein - one for you and one to give away!
For smaller people a Puerperium Cardigan (Ravelry link) will also come out of one skein of yarn for that really super new baby pressie! Definitely one for the memory box. Flockly DK

If you have read this newsletter for a little while now you may know my favourite base is Flockly - a perfect blend of woolliness and luxury as far as I'm concerned. I have used it for everything from socks to shawls. This is the DK version which I hadn't dyed for ages for some reason. I used this as the contrast for my Ama sweater and it's so cozy.
I have a kit planned for this yarn which I'm hoping to launch at the Open Studio but if you can't wait it would also be amazing for the patterns suggested for the Enchant DK, or its extra length - each skein is 115g - would mean you could make Skokie Scarf (Ravelry Link) with 1 skein. (I haven't tried this pattern yet, I just found it on Ravelry and liked the shape.)
I will be dyeing more of this soon so if you have any requests do let me know. The photos are of Mellow Fruitfulness, Snow Fields and Winter Solstice.Sock Kits

Valentines Sock Box
I have restocked the Valentine's sock box, this time in Thunder Bay colourway which the original sample was knitted in. I thought it made a change for a blue rather than pink for a valentine's pattern. If you would like to gift a kit in another colourway do ask, I can always make a one off box for you with your, or the recipient's favourite SQ colourway in it.
I think this pattern would work for most colorways. If you would like just the pattern its available digitally on PayHip or printed copies on the website.
