February Shop Update 2026 Minis Special February 28 2026, 0 Comments

All the Minis!

This is going to be a shorter newsletter this week than usual for a shop update as I still have minis to put on the website, there are nearly 70 lots of minis to go up so it took a little while. Most are colourways from the last six months or so of the previous county themed mini skein club. They have also all been relabelled with our new labels which hopefully won't get so crumpled at shows.

Just so you know, due to the way the new clubs are running, there are far fewer spares so if you do want either the British Wildlife or Celebrations colourway I strongly recommend signing up for the club, you can choose from several 20g or 100g yarn options. I'm trying to remember to share the inspiration every month and you can sign up for 1 month if there is just one that takes your fancy or a rolling subscription which you can cancel at any time. Next month will be St Patrick's Day and the Great Crested Newt!

The minis are all on the website, so head to the preview page or read on for descriptions of the different bases and some ideas of what to do with minis.

Mini Bases

All our minis are buy 4, get a 5th free if they are the same price so Bloom, Crush and Coorie you can mix and match, just add any 5 to your cart and the price will be adjusted, or add 5 Lustrous. The website won't discount if the 5 contains some Lustrous mixed with other bases.

Lustrous

This is the super soft, shiny option. Our popular 50/50 silk merino base. Use it as an accent where the shine will really stand out against a different base such as in this shawl. The pattern is Slow Exposure and the grey background is Crush and the stripes are from a set of 5 Lustrous Minis. Its hard to see on the photo but the stripes really stand out as they shine!

Crush

Sock yarn that can be used for socks and so much more! Lots of the shawls on the stand and ones I've made for me are all done in Crush, as are several garments. Minis are great for colourwork such as on this Nordiska sweater. This is all done in Crush with big skeins for the background and I think it was 5 minis for the colourwork but you could use more or less depending on pattern and size.

Coorie

The DK one! This is so soft and squooshy I love the way it works up especially in garter stitch. This is a close up of the mitred square blanket I'm making with the first year of County colourways. Coorie is an 8 ply yarn, but its made with 4 individual 2 ply strands so that's what give it the extra bounce. Minis would be great for colourwork again or accessories.

Bloom

Last but not least is Bloom, a 100% Bluefaced Leicester 4ply yarn. Designed for socks but can also be used for other things. Some people find it not quite as soft as Crush, a mini is a great way to try out a new yarn if you can't feel it in person!

I hope you enjoy this mega mini update! I'd love to hear if you have any good uses for minis I haven't thought of. I'm looking forward to a workshop and afternoon tea this weekend sharing mitred squares again, then I have some busy weekends at the beginning of March. With the sun today and the start of various events it's beginning to feel like 2026 is ramping up to be another busy year. Can we just have more of the blue skies and sun and less of the rain please? Look after yourself and those around you, Have Fun and Keep crafting!
