October Shop Update October 20 2022
And just like that its October! There is no doubt now we are firmly in autumn with a nip in the air and a good excuse to wear all the woollies. My own knitting I have been enjoying the Westknits MKAL, although I'm rather behind already but that's ok as its not a race.
We have been busy here at SQHQ finishing off the advent dyeing and doing lots of wholesale. Its this time of year we also dye our seasonal base Five for Silver which is a lovely sparkly yarn. This month we also have Lustrous Lace and Blush.
Everything is already on the website so either jump straight to the preview page or read on for more information. It all goes live at 8pm this evening.
This is seasonal yarn base we dye in the run up to Christmas and is a lovely soft merino nylon yarn with 5% stellina sparkle which is also soft and not scratchy. Its hard to capture the sparkle of these in photographs. Its described as a sock yarn but could be used for any project that uses a fingering weight yarn. Maybe choose it for a pop yarn if a project to add an extra element to make it stand out from other bases in the item.
Very sadly the mill that produces Blush went out of business in 2020 and we are almost at the end of our supply. I think there is enough for one more update after this one. I have been searching for an alternative but at the moment I cannot find one that I feel is good enough quality without requiring a very large price hike so at the moment it looks like it will be discontinued at some point early next year. Its a lovely base which is soft and smooth and has a nice stitch definition.
Lustrous Lace has proved very popular since we started offering it dye to order and also at shows so we have dyed some popular colours to have in stock for a quicker delivery. I particularly love the way Fairy Dust has come out and look forward to seeing that one knitted up into something beautiful and fun. I think it would look lovely paired with River Thames or Narwhal for a 2 colour project too.

In collaboration with Purlescence and Dragon Hill Studio our open studio looks set to be good day. We will have tea and cake, a raffle to win an advent and lots of yarn to squish. It would be lovely to see you there.
