December Shop Update - Gift Ideas December 12 2022, 0 Comments

Thank-you to everyone who came to the Open Studio on Saturday. It was lovely to see so many people and I lost count of how many visitors we had. Our raffle raised £53 for Action Through Enterprise. Congratulations to Ruth for winning the advent calendar!

I'll keep the rest of this introduction short today, there's a lot to do and only me in the studio. Some of the yarn and the two shawl kits are already up but there is more to add which will be going on line during the day today so keep checking the preview. Plus there are some small gifts you might like to find in your stocking.

There are Kits, Crush, a little Desire Marble DK, Floof, Voluptuous DK, Yaksino, Enchant, cards and stocking fillers!

Stocking Fillers

We have a variety of small gifts that would fit in a (knitted) stocking and not break the bank whilst still being useful. You can never have too many stitch markers or yarn cosies and everyone likes to show off their love of yarn with a keyring or car sticker.

Books

Do you know someone wanting to learn to knit? Knit How by Pom Pom Publishing is a friendly and easy-to-use book that will take them from their first stitches to sock, garments and more!

If you can already knit but want to make that step into garments then Ready, Set, Raglan is the book for you - 8 different raglan sweater patterns with lots of hints and tips to really make it your own.

Alternatively, if socks are on your to-do list for next year Ready, Set, Socks is a great book for new or experienced sock knitters alike. Every pattern is given for both fingering and DK weight yarns. As you know, I'm a huge fan of DK socks for learning or just for a quick project. I hope I find this one under my tree.

We also stock Pom Pom Magazine and Laine, both of which are lovely publications which would be nice to read by the fire with articles and recipes (depending on issue) as well as patterns.

Finish it off with a Card

We have cards from the lovely Tilly Flop for all occasions, some festive and some that would work all year round, and with knitting and crochet themes so there really is a card for every occasion.

If you still don't know what to choose, we do offer gift vouchers which will allow the recipient to choose the perfect present and earn you lots of brownie points.

Yarn

Enchant

We restocked the Enchant DK last month so this month we have the fingering weight version. It is the softest base we stock and its blend of Alpaca, Cashmere and Silk has been described by one customer at a show this year as being like cuddling a cloud!

Desire Marble DK

This base is super popular and most of our new colours sold at the Open Studio. We will dye more in the new year but here are the 3 colours left. They are lovely jewel tones of teal, red and blue.

Crush

Crush restock - lots of your favourite colourways. Did you know, these three colours are all in the top 4 most popular colourways - the other one is Heavenly Nightmare. Can you name them?

Floof

This is a fluffy cloud-like yarn which results in a soft, hazy fabric. Use on its own or hold together with another yarn to produce an interesting texture. See the 100 Words for Rain shawl for an example of how it looks worked alone.

Voluptuous DK

As well as the Sonsie DK with received new stock of Voluptuous DK last month so we have started dyeing up some new colours in this lovely, custom spun, woolly yarn. Remember all colours are non-repeatable so make sure you have enough for your project.

Yaksino

Yaksino is a heady mix of bouncy merino and warm yak with the sheen of silk with a twist.

This yarn arrives in the workshop in a natural grey base colour which results in deep, rich colourways when dyed.
