Sock Yarns
The ideal yarn for socks will be hard wearing, comfortable and have some memory. Socks endure more wear and friction that other garments or accessories.
Look for:
- A good amount of wool will make breathable, warm and naturally moisture-wicking socks and will give the knitted fabric memory to keep your socks in shape.
- Sock yarn needs to be strong, either a small amount of nylon or silk or from using wool with a longer staple (fibre length)
- Higher twist or a yarn with 3ply or 4ply structure will reduce the pilling.
- Knit socks to a tighter gauge than other garments
Our sock yarns include:
- Bloom which is 100% Bluefaced Leicester - A long staple fibre from British Sheep.
- Crush which is Merino with 25% nylon for strength.
- Slinky Twist which is a high twist merino silk blend, great for extra special socks.
