This shawl was born as part of a collaboration with Jen from Stitch Street Crochet where we both designed a shawl, mine knit and hers crochet, from the same inspiration using the same yarns. The yarns chosen are Enchanted Forest and Chesil Beach on Selkino, a merino silk singles yarn which a lovely drape that is ideal for knitting or crochet. Each section has been designed to remind me of an aspect of trees and forest from the ‘Broccoli’ look of the top of a forest from a distance to the leaves and trunks of the trees down to the ground below.

Selkino – 70% Merino, 30% silk singles yarn. 400 m per 100 g
100 g main colour (MC) and 100 g contrast colour (CC)

3.75 mm (US 5) needles, or size needed to get gauge. Circular needle at least 100 cm (40”) is recommended
Gauge
24 stitches and 33 rows to 10 cm (4”) in stocking stitch knitted flat using the smaller needles. Gauge is not critical for this project, but a different gauge will affect the final size of the shawl and the yardage requirements
