Virtual Open Studio April 2020

Sadly I have had to make the decision to postpone the open studio in its physical form, but I am now planning ways to host a virtual open studio instead.

I actually think this might be a nice chance for more people to join in who can’t make it to Berkshire .

So, I have been trying to think of things we can do. I can still go to the studio, its only 10 minutes from home via car so -

  • I can show you round in a video tour
  • I still have our 6 new colourways to reveal, so they will be appearing
  • I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me for a virtual crafting session via zoom. We can sit and chat and craft together. Unfortunately this will have to be BYOC (bring your own cake !)
  • I wondered about dyeing some yarn, maybe during the virtual craft along as it takes quite a while, if anyone would like to see how its done.

I will try and run it as a series of posts on social media as well as some more interactive bits if I can. I have 2 weeks to work it out!

If there is anything you would like me to show you, let me know and I’ll see if I can manage it. I will warn you I will be super uncomfortable on camera, it won’t be highly polished but I will do my best. I would just love to do something especially as I picked the date to mark having been SQ for a whole year. What do you think? Comment on the posts on instagram, facebook or Ravelry.

To celebrate my first year as Skein Queen we are open the doors of the studio again to share some birthday cake and let you see where the dyeing happens. Bring a project and join us.

We are also planning on revealing the 6 new repeatable colourways so this is your chance to get them first!

If you haven't visited before, we're a little out in the countryside - in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - it might require a car journey and it may be worth getting together with some knitty friends to make the journey out to visit us - we're about 10-15 minutes from Newbury.

If you're thinking of coming by train, your best option is to get the train to Newbury and grab a taxi.

The address is Unit 6, Langley Business Court, World's End, Beedon, Newbury, RG20 8RY

There is easy access (although the toilet facilities would not accommodate a wheelchair) and plenty of parking.

Date: Saturday 4th April, 10am-2pm.
